Camburg/Fox F-150 - Ford F-150 Performance Kit

No Raptor? No Problem!

Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor is one of the most exciting trucks to come out of Dearborn in recent times. That excitement has also propelled the Raptor into the realm of the expensive and exclusive.

Guess what? Adding a key combination of Fox and Camburg parts to a standard-issue ’09-and-newer F-150 turns it into a stealthy Raptor-hunter. In stock form, the Raptor gets 11.25 inches of front suspension travel. The Fox/Camburg combo installed on a standard F-150 yields 10 inches of front travel, putting the standard-issue truck within striking distance of its pricier counterpart.

It’s worth noting that the standard F-150 is narrower than the Raptor, which is a key feature if you’ve got to maneuver your truck in tight quarters.

If a Raptor is out of your reach, don’t despair. Pick up the Camburg/Fox combo on these pages and your truck will enjoy Raptor-like performance for thousands less. No Raptor? No problem!

Camburg’s Performance Series upper control arms offer several benefits. Positive caster is increased for better steering geometry in lifted applications. Strength is much, much greater than stock, as they’re constructed using chromoly tubing. The bushings are urethane which, unlike the stock control arms’ rubber bushings, doesn’t bind. In place of the stock ball joint the Camburg upper control arm uses a 1.25-inch Aurora uniball to allow more suspension travel and greater strength. Adapter slugs let the uniball system attach to the stock steering knuckle without any modifications.

The Fox F-150 coilover features a remote reservoir, a 2.5-inch diameter body, a stainless steel shaft, and adjustable preload. Since the stock Raptor shocks use 2.0 bodies (also from Fox) these coilovers offer greater piston area and better fade resistance thanks to the larger piston and bigger fluid volume. Internal valving is custom-tuned for the F-150 and the preload is adjustable to provide 0 to 3 inches of front lift. Billet aluminum is used for the rod end, internal piston, seal head, body end cap, and upper adapter plate.

  • If you can change a stock shock, you can install this Fox piggyback shock. Fox advises that you periodically apply wax to the shock bodies. This protects the bodies against weather and road grime.

  • Installing the front coilovers and upper control arms is fairly simple, even though it’s more involved than installing the rear piggyback shocks. You’ll need to disconnect the tie rod from the steering knuckle, and disconnect the steering knuckle from the upper control arm. Camburg’s Manuel “Nico” Feregrino spun the wrenches while we snapped the photos. Nico is removing the stock parts here.

  • The upper control arms are equipped with grease zerks, but you’ll want to grease the bushings and bushing sleeves with the provided grease upon assembly. The uniball bearing is delivered already installed into the uniball cup. Once the control arm is prepared, tap it into place using a soft mallet.

This kit won’t turn your F-150 into a Trophy Truck (for that, check out Camburg’s Kinetik Trophy Truck) but it will give your F-150 Raptor-hunting ability and real dirt prowess. If you don’t believe that four shocks and a pair of upper control arms can transform a truck, bolt on Camburg’s F-150 Performance Kit and feel the difference for yourself.
