This magazine was literally shipping to the printing press and the rubber was still curing when we got our hands on the first 41.5-inch radial Rocker tires from Pit Bull and mounted them on the biggest beadlock wheels available from Trailready. The package is so new, in fact, that we didn’t even have two hours go test ’em, so be sure to look for a lot more on the newest offerings from Pit Bull and Trailready, as we’re sticking this set on our project Blazer that is busy getting revamped at SMP Fabworks right now.

The Rocker is now the biggest light-truck radial tire offered (when measured from the ground to the top of the tire’s tread). Though it’s not a new design, the 41.5-inch size is brand new, and should be available to purchase by the time you read this. We mounted them on TrailReady’s new 20-inch HD beadlock wheels because it’s the most heavy-duty and biggest beadlock-ringed wheel available. The HD Series isn’t some production wheel with a cut-off bead lip; it’s a cast-aluminum wheel with no welds that was meant to be a beadlock wheel from day one.

Why run a 20-inch wheel? It is true that we typically preach to run the smallest wheel you can for the brake package your vehicle has. Sometimes, a tire is so big that you can have too much sidewall flex for certain driving conditions, and increasing the wheel size can actually improve the handling of your vehicle. Generally, bigger wheels are acceptable as long as they’re half the diameter of the tire, making these 41.5-inch Rockers mounted on 20-inch HD beadlocks a perfect package!

  • We mounted our Rocker radials and HD Series beadlocks onto our project Blazer that originally had 39-inch tires. We might have to do a little trimming after testing it with full-compression slams in the dirt, but the 41.5-inch Rockers look as if they’ll fit!

  • There isn’t a much more aggressive tread available—especially in a radial tire. The tread face is almost as wide as the tire itself, and the soft, large lugs and big tread voids ensure tons of off-road traction. At 41.5 inches tall, the newest Rocker radial is the biggest radial tire made for light trucks.

  • The TrailReady HD Series beadlock wheel is specifically cast to be a beadlock, so it has no welded-on bead lips. They’re offered in 15-, 17-, and now 20-inch wheel sizes in a variety of lug patterns. The 20x9.5s we chose can be ordered with 4.5-, 5.0-, 5.5-, or 5.8-inch backspacing. We chose the slim bead ring, finding no real need to add extra weight with the big rock ring.
