Baja Designs Led Stealth Light Bars Spreader Lenses

The next step in the LED lighting revolution has arrived. Within the next decade, you'll see more LED stop lights, street lights, home lighting, and work lights around your neighborhoods. Higher-end automobiles have already started integrating the light-emitting-diode (LED) technology into their headlights, and you'll soon see LEDs outperform any other light source available.

LEDs, though still considered an expensive light source, are dropping in price as the technology becomes more common. It also helps that LED lighting is welcomed universally by anyone and everyone looking to benefit from the fact that light-emitting diodes use minimal energy, provide impressive amounts of light, and have incredibly long life spans.

It's no wonder that Baja Designs chose to embrace the LED technology early on with its Ledgend LED headlights. Now, with more advanced technology available, Baja Designs has been able to pack more impressive lighting power into a smaller package that uses less energy. The Stealth light bars use the new CREE XP-G LED-the most efficient one currently available-with color temperature and output selected for the best performance in the dirt.

The Stealth bars can be ordered in 10-, 20-, 30-, 40-, or 50-inch lengths. Each 10-inch section is said to be roughly the equivalent of a single HID light. We were able to try out a 20-inch Stealth bar from Baja Designs, and it was a welcomed addition as a low-profile light that wouldn't draw nearly as much attention as a large pair of round HID lights.

  • 3. Installation of the light bar takes about two minutes, but we highly suggest getting a friend to help hold it in place while you tighten the bolts on. At more than $700 for a 20-inch Stealth Bar (size of bar tested), it's not something you'd want to drop during installation. That being said, the Stealth bar and all its LEDs would likely survive and still function properly if dropped, as it's very durable. It'd just be terrible to have scratches on a brand new bar.

LED 20-Inch Bar vs. HID Headlights
You can see how the LED bar's light is much more concentrated in front of the vehicle, with the light reaching further in front of the vehicle-much like that of current HID off-road lights. The HID headlights on our test vehicle are very bright, but they spread the light over too wide a pattern.
