Changing your ring and pinion sets to a higher ratio can drop your highway rpm and increase your top speed, but just like adding bigger tires, every transmission gear will be higher. If you've got a wide-ratio tranny, it's not a problem. If you don't have a wide-ratio, you might lose too much low-speed crawling ability or lose your towing power.
