It's been around for almost two years, but we're guessing you may have never seen it before ... or at least not up close. And you won't find it on BFGoodrich's website. It's BFG's answer to a more aggressive off-road-racing tire for CORR and desert racing. It's the Baja T/A KRT (not to be confused with the original Baja T/A KR). So what does the T in KRT stand for? Traction.

Gary Blalock, a BFG veteran for 34 years, can essentially be called the father of this tire, which he developed with the help of race teams that were asking for a more aggressive version of the Baja T/A in a bigger size. Currently, a 37x13.50R17 Baja T/A KRT is available, but a 39x13.50R17 version will be ready later this year.

The carcass of the KRT is identical to the race version of the Baja T/A KR, neither of which are DOT-approved. In other words, don't count on seeing this tire at your local tire shop. You can tell the race versions by the ribbing on the side of the tire. Street-legal Baja T/As do not have this ribbing, and there is not, and probably will not be, a street-legal version of the KRT. But if you are part of BFG's racing community (which is easily obtained), then you can purchase this tire for your competing truck.
