It's been real, and it's been fun. Many times, it's been real fun. We've gone to Gorman, bounced around Barstow main, and meandered through Moab. We've tested the FJ through the curves of the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest highways and the skittish hardpack of Main Divide Road in the Santa Ana Mountains. Throw in some race chasing in Lucerne, patrolling the pits in Parker, and a bit of exploration in Lytle Creek for good measure. Except for Moab, Utah, and Parker, Arizona, all of the other listed spots are our local SoCal haunts. Toyota's FJ Cruiser has let us explore our world. It's taken us there and back every time. Here's the last hurrah.
Jon Bundrant and the rest of the All-Pro Off-Road crew live and breathe Toyota rockcrawling, so it only makes sense that Jon has a cabin within easy reach of Means Dry Lake and the infamous Hammer Trails. It turns out that there are several good spots to explore near Jon's cabin on the north slope of the San Bernardino Mountains. Jon and his FJ made short work of this dry waterfall. | Field-testing All-Pro's lower-link skidplate. The factory lower-link brackets are thin-wall formed sheetmetal. Without the skidplate in place, this steel-on-stone encounter would've netted significant damage to the factory bracket. All-Pro's Ultimate Links are a direct bolt-on that use whisper-quiet, maintenance-free factory bushings. Ultimate Links are built using 1.5x2.0-inch, 0.188-wall rectangular DOM tubing. Unlike the spindly factory lower links, All-Pro's Ultimate Links don't mind being dragged over the rocks. | It was cool just to go exploring. Except for the waterfall Jon climbed, there really wasn't anything hard-core about the trails we followed. At the same time, there were still enough narrow spots and ledges to keep everyone honest. |
 | Sarah's new-generation Tacoma Double Cab is still in great shape, and Terry, temporarily behind the wheel, intended to keep it that way. Terry drove cautiously, but Jon was able to spot (some might say coax) him up onto this perch for a photo op. The truck was returned to Sarah without any new scratches. | |
