A hub-centric wheel uses a chamfered center bore (arrow A) that fits onto the raised section of the hub (arrow B). When the lug nuts are tightened, the weight of the vehicle is supported solely by the fit between the wheel's center bore and the hub. In a non-hub-centric wheel, the lug nuts must hold the wheel in place against the hub and support the entire weight of the vehicle. View Related Article
