This is a two-piece wheel. Note how the centersection is welded to the outer rim (weld bead indicated by arrow). One-piece wheels are forged or cast in a single piece, and there is no seam or weld between the centersection and the rim. On a two-piece wheel, the centersection can be of billet, cast, or forged construction.

A hub-centric wheel uses a chamfered center bore (arrow A) that fits onto the raised section of the hub (arrow B). When the lug nuts are tightened, the weight of the vehicle is supported solely by the fit between the wheel's center bore and the hub. In a non-hub-centric wheel, the lug nuts must hold the wheel in place against the hub and support the entire weight of the vehicle.

OMF manufactures a slick bead reinforcement ring for virtually any aluminum wheel. Once TIG-welded in place, the 0.190-inch-thick, 5052-H32 billet rings dramatically strengthen the wheel's outer bead lip, making it highly resistant to damage from rocks and other off-road obstacles. OMF can supply new aftermarket wheels with the reinforcement rings installed, or you can send your current alloy wheels into OMF for installation of the trick-looking rings.
