Now GM has chosen the Silverado while Toyota went for the Tacoma. The Silverado ZR2 comes with but not limited to: The Silverado ZR2 is based on an extended cab/short box body. The custom bodywork includes carbon fiber fender flares that stretch outward to cover the 35-inch-tall Goodyear Wrangler off-road tires and widened stance. Much of the truck’s body is made of carbon fiber, including the front fenders, extractor-style hood, rocker extensions and tailgate, which features large, debossed CHEVROLET lettering as a nod to Chevy trucks of the past...... A large, more prominent grille is also part of the package and is a vision of what designers would like to see in a production or accessory part. It is very functional, feeding cool air to the 550-horsepower LS supercharged crate engine from GM Performance Parts. http://image.internetautoguide.com/f/auto-news/2009-sema-show-2010-chevrolet-silverado-zr2-supercharged-concept-truck/31164387/2010-chevrolet-silverado-zr2-supercharged-concept-truck.jpg The Tacoma ATG comes with but not limited to: In addition to being the ultimate gaming vehicle the Tacoma ATG also needed to be able to transport outdoor enthusiasts to their favorite remote locations. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) contributed to the project with the installation of its 304 horsepower 4.0-liter Supercharger to increase vehicle torque and better traverse rugged landscape. TRD 16-inch bead lock wheels with BF Goodrich LT295/75R16 All-Terrain T/A tires were added to improve off-road stability and increase traction. http://image.internetautoguide.com/f/auto-news/2010-toyota-tacoma-all-terrain-gamer-atg-pickup-truck-sema-first-look/31139925/2010-toyota-tacoma-all-terrain-gamer-atg-pickup-truck.jpg Not I'm not going to lie...one truck seems to have big tires while the other seems to have big screens. Not sure how they think this will combat the Ford Raptor but what do you guys think....should Ford be scarred??? This year Chevy wanted a piece of Raptor and decided to take the Silverado into an off road level. The F-150 Raptor recently received the new 6.2-liter V8 engine that pumps out 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. At the same time the Raptor went into a new special edition segment with another Raptor dubbed the FR Raptor XT. The XT will be limited to a run of 50 units and is an extreme truck; it's not street legal and will sticker at $99,950. So you can see the Ford is pushing for the spotlight once again. Not to be outdone GM decided to bring a concept to the SEMA Show with the Chevy Silverado ZR2. The ZR2 has a supercharged 6.2L LSA V-8 under the hood creating a whopping 550hp. Thanks to the cavernous space below the Silverado's hood, the LSA and its six-speed automatic transmission dropped right in with little effort and Chevrolet easily fitted a custom stainless steel exhaust system. Being that it's only a concept no price is obviously given. So which would you take....the Raptor or ZR2??? http://image.motortrend.com/f/11219196/112_0901_01z+2010_ford_F-150_SVT_Raptor+front_view.jpg http://image.motortrend.com/f/11027636+w750/112_0811_13z+2010_ford_f150_svt_ford_raptor+interior.jpg http://image.trucktrend.com/f/concept-trucks/chevrolet-shows-off-raptor-fighting-silverado-zr2-concept-at-sema/25802561/chevrolet-silverado-zr2-concept-front-three-quarter-view.jpg http://image.trucktrend.com/f/concept-trucks/chevrolet-shows-off-raptor-fighting-silverado-zr2-concept-at-sema/26944483/chevrolet-silverado-zr2-concept-interior.jpg Source: Raptor Source: ZR2

I'm hoping someone has information on who organizes?ed the Baja, long ago. What I'm really researching is a postal stamp I saw many years ago representing the Baja, with a Saab 96 cresting (in air) a sandy hill. My father was one of the very first Saab dealers, ended up the oldest Saab dealer in the US before he finally retired 10 years ago. When I was young he ran lots of rallys, mostly in New England, bringing home trophy after trophy. I think he always dreamed of running the Baja, but he had a family and business on the east coast.... So I've been searching stamp collectors. Today I discovered, at a stamp show, that there was never a US Postage stamp like the one I'm looking for. Which means it was either a 'Cinderella', a local deal, or a promotion kind of thing. I'm thinking I need to find someone involved in the Baja 60's, 70's, maybe but probably not 80's. My Dad's getting up there and I'd love to find a copy of this for him! Anyone? Monica Bernstein, nee Bosshard for any old Saab fans. My Dad was Felix.

However, recently while reading an article in off roading, I found out that one of the most dangerous vehicles out there is the ROV's!! at least that what the article stated.... The Consumer Product Safety Commission voted Wednesday to write mandatory rules to regulate the four-wheel vehicles, following more than 100 deaths since 2003. Riders have suffered dozens of injuries, too — some leading to amputations. ROVs, also called side-by-sides, are two-passenger motorized vehicles designed for drivers 16 years and older. They resemble a cross between a rugged-looking golf cart and a miniature-Jeep, and have a roll cage — metal bars framing the cab. Now my opinion is the following.... it's understandable that the government wants to make safe vehicles for the everyday driver out there. However, off roading isn't an everyday activity for EVERY every day driver. People who off road are enthusiast who know the risks of there activities and consequences should things go wrong. So I say to government, kudos for caring....however you should care about other problems, such as healthcare and what not...not off road problems!! It's not surprising either being that trucks do make excellent off road vehicles. However there are some SUV's out there that also makes good off roaders. Today that SUV is the Hummer H3T. Now Hummers have proven themselves worthy in the rocky, sandy, muddy terrain field before and the H3T did not let down. Turtle Ridge contains trails from wild to mild and our group favored the wild stuff. It was amazing how well the H3s and H3Ts we brought performed next to the H1s. On some obstacles, it was even easier to get through with an H3T because the H1s are so wide they require many multiple-point turns on tight sections of the trail. Any other Hummer enthusiast out there that have an off road story??
