While returning to base after providing security during Operation Enduring Freedom, a few of the guys from U.S. Marines Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, had some off-road fun with their Humvee. Keep in mind these vehicles are heavily armored with up to 1-inch-thick steel plates in sections. They are basically mini tanks without the giant turret. Check out the shot of them catching some air, which had to provide one hell of a landing. It's good to see that the guys can have a little bit of fun through all of their hard work overseas. Now this is one clean machine. Craig Fraki sends us a few images of his original paint '73 4WD Jeep Wagoneer. That's right; the truck is still running its original Presidential Red paint that Craig buffed to a high gloss finish. The owner tells us that the truck has served him well over the years as an off-road toy, hunting vehicle, and family travel wagon. Its current purpose is to pull vintage trailers around California to shows. Not a bad gig for a retired adventure 'wheeler. He modified the front grille to give it the look of a '63 Rhino Chaser. A very subtle lift kit was also added to get the vehicle level and provide a larger off-road tire. This Jeep is currently located in Ojai, California.
During the recent Clean-Dezert event in Barstow, California, our notorious publisher snapped a shot of Steve Miltko's '91 Toyota truck. Steve is a big fan of our magazine and has followed it over the years, aiding him in building his Tacoma. In front his truck is running Downey fiberglass "Ivan" fenders and a custom 3.5-inch over long travel front suspension that cycles 11 inches of travel using 2.5-inch Sway-A-Way Racerunner coilovers. The rear suspension is essentially stock for now but plans to add a longer leaf pack and bypass shocks. Steve hopes to one day race his truck in the MDR series 1450 class races. Keep working at it Steve, you will get there.

Darren Ruzicka of Chatsworth, California, was one of the first guys out there making long travel suspensions for the Yamaha Rhino. His former suspension company, Demon Rhino of Fulcrum Fabrication, whipped up this stout 6-inch-over long-travel kit for his '06 Yamaha Rhino. His Rhino was built a custom roll cage with a collapsible Jeep-style rear seat, overhead lightbar using Pro Comp lights and new bumpers. His suspension uses King 2-inch coilovers with piggy-back reservoirs.
For the past 37 years, Ronnie and Jennie Golden have been married and addicted to dirt. They volunteer with MDR Racing helping setup the courses in their '07 Yamaha Rhino 660 Sport Edition. Their side-by-side is loaded with aftermarket goodies including ITP wheels, Jet Trim Seats, K&N filter, Simpson Harnesses, Kragen HID lights, and an assortment of billet accessories. Technically the Rhino was built for Jennie, but Ronnie steals a ride in the driver's seat as often as possible. It has provided them hours of fun both in the desert and in the mountains with their friends.
