Getting Down and Dirty
Christopher McNamara is no stranger to slinging mud and pushing the limits of his '98 Chevy Silverado 1500. Besides local off-road driving, he is also part of the Friends in High Places truck club of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, as well as the Pennsylvania chapter of www.mychevytruck.com. His 1500 is equipped with a 3-inch body lift running over 305-70R16 BFG AT tires and 16x8-inch Eagle Alloy 589-series wheels. Chris's plans for additional suspension modifications include a 6-inch Pro Comp kit totaling 9 inches of lift so he can run 38-inch tires. His truck also runs a K&N FIPK intake system, a 50 Series Flowmaster muffler, and a Hypertech programmer to add a little extra boost.
Flyin' Ford
Over the past few years, Jason Hemphill of Fullerton, California, has been building his Ford Ranger into an extremely capable prerunner. The front end under his truck uses Newline Products equal-length I-beams with monster 3-inch-diameter King 14-inch coilovers. You will also find swing-set steering installed to help turn his 33-inch tires. Jason has also installed a full-floating 9-inch rearend from PDC Motorsports stuffed with 4.86 ring-and-pinion gears, spool, Wilwood four-piston calipers and 12-inch rotors all supported by Deaver springs and King triple-bypass shocks. His plans are to complete the cagework and prepare the truck to take on the growing 1450 class of racing. Keep building your truck, Jason, and good luck at the races!
