Goat All Grown Up
Chris Jansen of Fort Myers, Florida, bought his '99 Dodge Ram 1500 stock and was immediately picked on by his friends. They called the truck Goat because they claimed it wasn't big enough to be a Ram. Chris sprung for a 5-inch Skyjacker lift kit and added a 2-inch coil spacer to set the ride height. Blocks level the rear to match the front. New tires were needed to fill the holes, so he bought a set of 16x35-15 Interco TSL Boggers. Chris says the stock running gears are 3.55:1 and need to be changed because now his Ram has no oomph. The next step for Chris is a body lift, 40-inch Boggers, and 4.56:1 gears.
Dune Junkie
Scott from Cassoplis, Michigan, is one of those sand junkies. Here, the truck sits atop Test Hill at Silver Lake sand dunes. Scott truly loves his work truck. He puts an average of 1,000 miles a week on the little pickup, not including his weekend excursions. The Tundra sports a TRD supercharger, TRD headers, and TRD differential upgrades, all with a 100,000-mile warranty. A 3-inch body lift and 2-inch suspension lift were all that was needed to fit a set of 33x13.5R16 Super Swamper LTBs with Extreme Alloy's 16x10-inch wheels. A true dual exhaust with two-chamber mufflers lets the Tundra breath. Scott said all that's left is a shot of NOS, and he'll finally be done.
Worst Stuck
A couple of weeks after this '62 International Scout 4x4 got a spring-over suspension lift, the owner, Matthew Carden, came home from school after a major rain pour and decided to go for a trail ride while the clay was still good and snotty. Unfortunately, he didn't get very far. After two hours of trying to get out of the driveway, he decided to call it a day. During the next two hours, 4 inches of rain fell and drowned the Scout above its rear taillights. Matthew's father-in-law stayed clear of the mud and approached the front of the Scout from the grass side with his '74 Chevy 4x4. He hooked the Scout up to the Chevy and pulled it over the concrete wall that's barley visible in this pic. To this day, Matthew is still fixing the rain damage in his 4x4.
