Nissan Continues As Official Truck Of Championship Off-Road RacingIn 2003, Nissan became the official truck of the CORR Lucas Oil Series. Following the success of its Titan and Frontier pickups, the company signed a two-year contract extension with Championship Off Road Racing (CORR). Nissan will be the official truck of CORR for the next two seasons. Figures from 2003 exceeded Nissan's expectations for brand visibility and product promotion, according to Ron Stukenberg, senior manager of Motorsports Marketing and Operations with Nissan North America. "We think it will only get better for us as an official sponsor because we see the series continuing to grow in the years ahead," said Stukenberg. "We're also looking forward to showing off the next-generation Frontier through our CORR involvement." Nissan isn't new to Championship Off Road Racing. Since CORR's first season in 1998, Art Schmitt has been powered by Nissan in the Pro-Lite division, winning seven races in 90 starts. Now Nissan's final goal is to take both driver and manufacturer championships. In addition to its official-truck sponsorship, Nissan will offer more than $30,000 in contingency for the Pro-Lite division. If the Pro-Lite division champion is driving a Nissan Frontier, he'll receive $5,000. A First Place driver who drives a Nissan Frontier will receive $1,000 per race. The first Nissan to cross the finish line will receive $500. "Nissan is turning heads in the motorsports industry," said Jamie Devney, director of marketing for CORR. "For Nissan to be the official truck of CORR is a giant step for the growth of the series."
