Arciero Trophy Prerunner

You Can Own One Just Like It!

If you live in the dirt like we do, you have heard the name Arciero-most likely Ryan Arciero. Before Ryan could get behind the wheel, his Uncle Al was taming the desert terrain, winning races in Baja, and competing in a number of the legendary Mickey Thompson Races. With the team soaring and Ryan getting faster and faster, Al, or "Awesome Al" as some around the scene know him, opened a shop that would help transform the team into a prevailing force and secure the family legacy. When you race at the Trophy Truck level, you need a prerunner that is also Trophy Truck caliber. Al's truck has put in more than 3,000 miles prerunning Baja with the T-Force Race Team, returning without any problems. Now that's impressive.

  • Even standing still this truck looks fast. This is a spec-built truck, which means, you can contact Arciero Racing and order your very own. However, you may have to make a choice, a new condo or Trophy Prerunner? When we asked how much one would set us back we vaguely remember hearing a number around $400,000 thrown out. We can keep renting apartments for a little longer, how about you? The truck has retained its street legal necessities and was built with a low profile look that may help keep police officer eyes at bay. The overall height of the truck measures 76 inches, the length is 226 inches, the wheelbase is 138 inches, and weight came in at 6,300 pounds. Trailer Products provided the fiberglass to Arciero's specifications.

  • The fiberglass provided more than ample room for the 37x12.50R17LT Nitto Dune Grappler Desert Terrain tires wrapped around Walker Evans 17-inch beadlock wheels. Steering those meats is a heavy duty Howe Ram Assist rack and pinion. Dual Flowmaster mufflers were given special side exits, which not only look great but also give the rear suspension less stuff to swing into.

  • The front suspension uses a massive 27.25-inch double A-arm/J-arm design that provides 22 inches of wheel travel. Fox 3-inch five-tube bypass shocks and 3-inch coilovers do what's needed to keep the truck landing comfortably. The 13/4-inch custom-built headers tuck safely behind the suspension up and out of the way.

  • The front track width came in at 90 inches while the rear measured 88 inches. Stopping this monster is a full compliment of ProAm six-piston caliper and 14-inch rotor brakes running off a Brembo master cylinder. Front to back, the entire chassis is made from 4130 chromoly tube for superior strength. Add some window nets and you could race this baby.

  • It was important to keep the creature comforts alive inside the cabin to help ease those very long days in Baja. Remember, when you prerun a 1,000-mile course, often you have to drive back as well. VDO gauges lay beautifully wrapped in a carbon fiber panel behind the MOMO Race steering wheel. PCI Race Radios provided the intercom system, a Lowrance 6500C GPS handled guidance and an Icom Race Radio delivered communications. As you saw in the rear, the air conditioning is still functioning and has vents for both the front and rear passengers.

  • Felipe Romo used to lay out the interiors for Saleen racecars, now he works in-house for Arciero and wrapped this interior in a tan leather and suede combo. He even rewrapped the Beard Racing seats. Arciero also had the entire steel cabin double walled and heat/sound insulated. Its tough toning down a 600hp motor with the go-fast pedal mashed to the floor, but it sure did make a difference during our test drive.

Al had the condenser moved to the rear in order to allow the front radiator better breathing room. Optima Red Top Batteries are tucked in just behind the spare tires next to a few bottles of emergency oil. The retractable billet aluminum light bar is holding four Vision X HID lights.
