It seems like our friends in Canada are doing it right when it comes to building solid, clean, fast-moving trucks. Brad Ewen is the sales and marketing manager for Tomcar, a company with a reputation for building capable go-anywhere vehicles. When he called us to inform us of this '09 GMC Sierra he was having built, the last thing he said was, "This won't be some jacked up all sprung-out truck made to only look nice. I want this baby to run wide open through the forest or the desert." As you can imagine, that got our attention and so did the finished product.

  • The guys at Baja North had an idea to spice up the wheels and give them the look of a full floating race system. They fabricated all new aluminum center caps, drilled and tapped them and had them painted to match the Fox shocks. The KMC wheels look even better now wrapped in Goodyear MTR tires.

  • What allows this truck to take on high speeds in the dirt is a Total Chaos mid-travel kit using TC upper control arms and Fox 2.5-inch remote reservoir coilovers. This setup lifts the front a few inches giving it a nice prerunner stance. Baja North, a fabrication shop located near Brad's hometown of Kamloops, Canada, is responsible for the suspension install as well as the custom front bumper. Four Vision-X lights compliment the front and provide ample light.

  • The rear suspension includes Fox 2.0 bypass shocks under the bed. Carrying a full-size spare tire is a Wilco Prerunner Tiregate. The Tiregate is a great product for those that need a spare that will not fit in the stock location. The gate swings open and is reversible to allow for more bed space.

  • Wallace Upholstery did a clean job of laying the Troy Lee Designs fabric into the stock seats. This fabric came straight from Japan and is not available to the general public. If you see this in another truck, you know the owner definitely "knows people."

  • Under the rear seats we reveal the custom made subwoofer enclosures Brad had made to give his truck that extra bass needed. A pair of 12-inch Pioneer TS-SW3001S4 subwoofers are powered by Pioneer GM6400F and GM8400M amplifiers.

  • Brad does some work with Troy Lee Designs, which inspired him to create the graphics for his truck. Not only are his seats layered in TLD 2010 GP MOTO fabric, the windows have been tinted to match the theme. Brad also happens to be a huge audio nut, loading his GMC with a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT in-dash navigation unit with dual headrest DVD players in the back running movies or his game system.

  • Under the hood of this GMC is the stock 5.3L V-8 with a few extra goodies including Mast Motorsports Black Label 12-degree CNC heads, MM cam, Dynatech ceramic coated headers, Flowmaster exhaust, K&N intake and an Optima Red Top battery. The truck pushes 340 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque. Both the front and rear axles are stuffed with 3.73 ratio gears and the rear contains a limited slip differential.
