We caught up with Alfonso Zatarian in Ocotillo Wells, California, streaking through the desert with his family loaded up in his '94 Ford Bronco. We found a pretty nice truck hidden under all that fiberglass. We asked Alfonso why he built this truck and his response was, "I truly love off-road racing and I wanted a truck that could transport my family to all of the races in Mexico." With some help from Curry Race Cars in Mexicali, Mexico, he transformed his Bronco in a feature worthy ride that any off-road enthusiast would love to own.

The front suspension kept the stock 4-wheel-drive I-beams with much needed support gussets added. |  Supporting the front end are... The new rear suspension now moves 18 inches, which is more than ample for high-speed shenanigans. |

Under the new bodylines is a set of 35-inch BFGoodrich BAJA T/A tires wrapped around 15x8-inch KMC bead lock wheels. |  The Ford 9-inch rear end served...  The Ford 9-inch rear end served up plenty of toughness for the truck with some added chromoly for strength. A vast majority of desert prerunners carry this axle around in the rear due to its strength, versatility and massive amount of aftermarket parts available. |  New steering linkage was fabricated...  New steering linkage was fabricated to allow for the new extended travel numbers. The stock Bronco was not designed to move 16 inches in the front, but now this truck can. |

Alfonso sees plenty of nighttime off-road but wanted his light bar to be removable. If you have ever owned a truck with such a light bar, they become sails driving on the highway and rob your gas mileage. Better to install it only when needed. |  Curry built a stout four-link...  Curry built a stout four-link suspension in the rear, knowing that Alfonso would see some rough terrain on his journeys. When a four-link is built properly, it is a very reliable system. |

One great thing about building a truck like a Ford Bronco is you have plenty of room to work. Aluminum cages were made to hold oil, fuel, helmets, jack, tools and more. |  Under the hood reveals how...  Under the hood reveals how Curry tied the chromoly chassis into the cabin. The engine is a 351ci, 5.8L Ford V-8. With a little help from Edelbock headers and crank, the engine pushes an estimated 375 horsepower to the rear wheels. |

Helping him get through the rocks is a custom mounted front camera that displays on his dash. Kind of like having eyes in the back of your head. |  Chrome moly surrounds all...
