2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom Solid Intake System
Knowing Ron would more than likely find himself in quite a few silt beds throughout his journeys, Advanced Air Cleaner Systems of Lakeside, California, custom-made a solid intake system for his truck. The company has been turning out some really nice intakes that are being found more and more on Trophy Trucks because of their ability to trap dirt and allow clean air to flow into the engine.

As you can see there is barely any portion of the stock frame left. The entire chassis is caged with 4130 chromoly tube. Aluminum panels have been added around the rear suspension keeping the rest of the truck protected. All fiberglass and aluminum can be removed with simple Dzus tabs. The rear 4-link design provides 28 inches of wheel travel and lifts the truck 4.5 inches, matching the front. Shocks include King Shocks 4.0-inch bypass shocks and 3.0-inch coilovers as well as 2.5-inch bumpstops.

2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Rear Bumper And Spare Tires
Ron had H&M build both the front and rear bumpers bolt on. This way if he smashes them up he can easily replace them. Two fullsize spare tires are located in the rear. They are 17x9-inch Walker Evans bead lock wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires.

An assortment of Auto Meter Gauges is located behind a Momo steering wheel. To the driver's right is a Lowrance GPS, Art Carr shifter and a Vintage Air system keeping the cabin cool on those hot summer days. After taking a ride in Ron's Chevy we had to ask why the truck sounded so quiet. Ron had the entire cabin layered with two layers of Dynamat. Dynamat is a sound dampening material often found in vehicles with super-loud audio systems. A 500 horsepower motor is plenty loud, but the Dynamat really did its job and allowed us to have a conversation during high speeds.

2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hood And Engine
When we asked Ron to pop the hood or in desert language, remove the front clip, he showed us a neat trick. H&M created a hood lever system for allowing easy access under the hood without having to totally remove the fiberglass. Genius! Trailer Products made all the fiberglass surrounding this Chevy.

2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hood And Engine 2
Taking a good look under the hood allowed us to show you the design of the hood lever system and the truck's power plant. Stuffed under a maze of metal is a Chevrolet LS-2 engine pushing over 510 horsepower and 480 ft-lb of torque. Turn Key Engine Supply out of Oceanside, California, provided the engine. A custom built radiator from PWR is located up front. The oil system on the truck is stock Chevy with a high output pump and cooler attached. RPM Motors designed and installed the stainless steel headers and a 4-into-1 exhaust system. The fuel injection system is also made by Turn Key, which contains a Bosch fuel pump, Delphi electronics, Moroso filter, and a 180-amp high-output alternator.
