Tom and Matt Tellefsen, owners of AZ Unlimited Car and Truck Accessories, have been dreaming of owning and driving a sand rail for years. Now, their dream has come true with a '08 Sandwinder LTX Pro-4 car sponsored by Royal Purple Synthetic Oil Products. Their company is one of the country's leading distributors of Royal Purple products so when they were approached by Royal Purple to build a rail to be put on display at SEMA, it killed a few birds with one stone. They could build their first sand rail, promote the product line, finish an amazing father and son project, and own an amazing off-road toy. When Tom and Matt took delivery of the car it was a rolling chassis. The car still needed to get an engine, transmission, interior, wheels, tires, electronics, wiring, and more. The chassis is built out of 0.120-inch wall 4130 chrome moly tubing, including 4130 chrome moly A-arms and trailing arms, 4130 tie rods,....When Tom and Matt took delivery of the car it was a rolling chassis. Tom and Matt has their chassis built with a great deal of extras including additional shock mounts, skidplates, aluminum roof, light bar, new flooring and more......Billet steering system, 930 mid board hubs with four piston brakes, King coilover sho Power is provided for this project with a 2008 GM Crate LS-3 Motor. It measures 376ci and puts out a whopping 480 horsepower to the wheels. Torque comes in at 475ftlbs. It has been bored 4.06 inches and stroked 3.62 inches. The motor is kept running cool with a Ron Davis radiator, dual SPAL fans Gibson ceramic headers and exhaust and a Bosch fuel pump.Power is provided for this project with a 2008 GM Crate LS-3 Motor. It measures 376ci and King Shocks provided shocks for the entire product in custom black color. Up front you find a 2-x10-inch 2-tube bypass shock and 2-x10-inch coilover on each side. A King Shocks racing jack is also mounted and ready to aid in support at any time. Up front you fin The custom paint scheme was laid down by Nash FX out of Apache Junction, Arizona, and if you are wondering where the article title got its name, just check out the hood graphics. All coilovers front and rear have had their coil springs painted to match the purple scheme. Whenb the sand is calling, the guys swap on a set of Extreme Tire Eliminator 14.5-inch paddle tires. All transmission work was completed by Arizona Transaxle out of Phoenix, Arizona. Two more HID lights are located on either side of the cage above the hood. In Knight Rider fashion, a 12-inch Vision X LED light bar is found custom-fitted into the center of the hood nose. In the rear you will find a pair of 4-inch red LED lights and one 6-inch clear back-up LED light.Vision X Lights sponsored the project with an assortment of their goods. 6.5-inch HID ligh The Royal Purple theme didn't stop with the body graphics. Renegade Seating has their race bucket seats custom stitched to match. Crow five-point harnesses have also been added to each seat for safety. The guys wanted to have just the right components without having to stare into a ton of gauges and getting lost when all they want to do is stomp the gas pedal and hit the dunes. Interior components include a Lowrance 540c GPS, PCI Avcom Race Radio and Intercom System, PCI Hi-Fi head sets, Vision X Lights interior LED lighting, and Phantom II gauges.`Less is more' could easily be said by looking into the interior of this rail.
