2009 Polaris Ranger XP - Polaris Done Jagged X Style

In the rear, the suspension got the same Jagged X wide-track treatment. Elka Elite series adjustable coilovers with reservoirs serve to support and damp each corner. The motor remains the stock 700cc parallel twin EFI powerplant with the CV transmission and high/low transfer case.

Maxxis Bighorns in a 27-inch size serve traction duty and are mounted on OMF three-piece billet center beadlocks to ensure against popping a bead off when using lowered air pressure and side-loading the tires while in the dirt.

The Jagged X-Polaris Racing Chevy truck was well concocted. The guys knew they wanted an efficient way to transport a race or weekend UTV, haul plenty of fuel, parts, and tools, and have the ability to get out in the back country when needed.

This Ranger build was meant to yield a highly useable rig, so goals were to build the most capable and best riding trail UTV possible. It performs smoothly across sand washes and open desert, exhibiting both rider comfort and control. The wider, long travel suspension lets it crawl over rocky terrain with ease.

The tail is accented with a stylish tube bumper.

AZ Color in Phoenix generated all the graphics and the white truck underneath has been transformed to red-based graphics with the use of a custom vehicle wrap. Jagged X fabricated all the tube work on the turbo diesel truck.

Tucked under the body you'll find an on-board air setup and the novelty everyone likes to play with ... a full-size train horn.

Inside the bed, you'll find fuel jugs to keep the Polaris rigs juiced, along with a Honda power generator, Lincoln MIG welder, power inverter, and a complete assortment of emergency and recovery gear. Most items are padlocked in place to remove any covetous temptation from the minds of those who might want any of the items for themselves.

The Chevy 3500 has been raised 4 inches with a Rancho suspension lift. Firestone air bags on the rear are pumped up with a Viair Extreme Duty dual compressor to help supplement the added load and level out the ride. Rancho 5000 shocks are used at all four corners as well. Thirty-three-inch Toyo MTs mounted on 17-inch Robby Gordon Street Locks round out the off-road capability of the chase/haul truck.

Like any good chase truck, this one is fully stocked with spare parts, tools, and fluids. The crew has to be prepared to repair most anything that may be a problem during a race pit stop. The bed area is fully lit using Vision X HID and LED lighting systems.

Stored under the bed are a set of steel sections that link together to form the two ramps used to load a UTV on top of the Chevy truck. We watched as they were able to assemble the ramp in just a few minutes.

The steel tube cage serves as a storage rack for spare tires above the cab and a Warn 4.0 winch sits up top in case it's need to pull a disabled UTV onto the truck. Fortunately, the winch has seen little use to this point.

With the ramps on the back of the truck, it's an easy job to drive a UTV right onto the bed rails for hauling. The team often uses the truck to haul their race RZR to desert events.
