World War II-era fighter planes and the accompanying artwork that was painted on their fuselages are items that just scream individuality and camaraderie. Following this trend, the guys at Platinum 1 Enterprises of Riverside, California, chose to emblazon their two rigs with two stunning examples of this truly American form of art.
As Tier 1 suppliers to Harley-Davidson Motor Company for the painting of all limited-edition motorcycle paint sets, Platinum 1 owner, Kraig Kavanaugh, felt that the best way to promote his business and its new products and designs would be to create two truly unique vehicles. The first vehicle in the Platinum 1 Enterprises air force is an '05 Chevrolet HD 2500 4x4 with a B1 Bomber theme, while the second truck is an '04 Chevrolet HD 2500 4x4 with a Dive Bomb Shark covering the entire rig.
The '04 2500 series features custom N-Fab step bars that have been painted to match the rest of the rig, while the Bushwacker fender flares were left black for contrast. | Eight-inch CST suspension systems allow each truck to fit the massive wheel and tire combinations they have. White Brothers Motorsports was responsible for the installation of the system and all related components. | The '05 HD's Birch Metallic Silver base color was a good starting point for a classic B1 Bomber finish. A team of pinstripers adding black lines and House of Kolor Rootbeer Kandy accents for 18 hours created the authentic look of a fuselage's metal plates. |
With a sudden growth in custom helmet design and a new exclusive arrangement with M2R helmets to create limited-edition, hand-painted M2R helmets for racers and dealerships, we get the idea that these rigs are just what the doctor ordered to fuel the marketing campaign.
For those tough carrier landings, the crew at Wheel Pros made sure that the rig depends on the massive 35x12.50x18 Nitto Mud Grapplers wrapped in 18x10-inch Helo Maxx 8 wheels to absorb some of the shock and awe that it dishes out. | The Dive Bomb Shark artwork was created using Black, White, Blue, and Blood Red House of Kolor tints. With the airbrushing completed, the entire rig had an additional four coats of clear applied with countless hours of sanding in between. | Depending upon the lighting conditions and time of day, a set of ghost flames with a cool burst of sunburst flakes mixed in can be seen lighting things up. |
