We usually dedicate ourselves to the real thing, but when we found Funrise Toy's new Nylint radio-controlled Jeep Wrangler, we just had to tell you about it, as the Rock Crawler isn't your usual RC car. With big, soft Mickey Thompson Baja Claws mounted on bead-lock wheels and a real Low range, this Jeep can crawl the rocks almost as well as its real namesake.
The Wrangler comes with a large 12-volt battery that sits amidships, a battery charger, a "lug" wrench to remove the tires and wheels, and a controller that is easy to use, even if you've never driven an RC vehicle before.
When we first took the Jeep out of its box, we weren't expecting much. After all, a toy wouldn't be able to really crawl. Plus, the toymakers don't know anything about real off-roading, right?
Wrong!
Whoever designed this vehicle either is an off-roader or consulted closely with someone who is. This toy Jeep performs like a real Jeep. Shift it into Low range (the shift lever is on the controller) and the little 4x4 crawls over anything it can get traction on. It's even a great learning tool for fullsize-vehicle neophytes who haven't figured out that hitting the big obstacle straight on may not be the best way to get over it. The Nylint Wrangler also has enough power in High range to travel over sand dunes, high grass, or soft dirt at a respectable speed.
The RC Nylint Wrangler Rock Crawler is a lot of fun for kids of any age. It's available at Wal-Mart, among other places. Pick one up and head for the backcountry, or the backyard. This Jeep can conquer both!
