The front Dana 44 axlehousing is stuffed with 4.88:1 cogs, a Detroit Locker, and a Full Throttle disc brake conversion. Hydraulic-assisted crossover steering is also in play to keep the Chevy going in the right direction.

Most of the custom-fabricated suspension on Frank's truck is designed to bolt onto the smoothed and powdercoated chassis. Both axlehousings are located by parallel four-link/Panhard bar suspensions, which pivot on 1-inch-diameter, Teflon-coated rod ends. Wally's Custom Chrome and Central Powdercoating stripped and powdercoated the frame in gloss black, and chromed the link bars.

Aside from the vinyl graphics that run across the truck's quarters, the shaved tailgate handle and rear step bumper are the only body mods. The step bumper modification is a subtle one that only GM owners may notice. The stock ribbed plastic bumper caps have been smoothed with fiberglass and painted to match the truck -- a nice touch to be sure.

At first glance, you might mistake the black plastic-clad 4.8L Vortec V-8 powerplant for being stock. But look again and you'll find a Whipple supercharger stuffed in between the passenger-side inner fenderwell and the intake manifold. The huffer helps this motor crank out nearly 425 ponies through the JBA exhaust system.
