As everyone knows, the higher you are, the better the view. For George Adams of Indianapolis, his view couldn't be better - especially when stuck in traffic and his view through the windshield of his '92 Chevrolet Blazer overlooks a blanket of car rooftops. Shortly after purchasing the '92 Chevrolet Blazer, George began to come up in the world - literally.
To accommodate the 39x15x15 Mickey Thompson tires mounted on 15x10 Weld Racing wheels, the Blazer would require an astounding 9 inches of lift. To complete this requirement, George added a 6-inch Explorer Pro Comp suspension kit complete with a triple shock setup in the rear and a set of Pro Comp dual shock hoops in the front. The rear springs were replaced with a pair of Skyjacker heavy-duty units. To take some of the bump and grind out of the suspension, a total of 10 Explorer ES 3000 shocks were installed. To keep the axle wrap to a minimum, a pair of Pro Comp lateral traction bars was used, as well as a Go Rhino! axle truss. A 3-inch Trail Master body lift was installed to further help clear the huge rubber.
Being more than satisfied with the performance of his truck's 350-cid V-8, George only opted to make some minor upgrades to it. For both performance and aesthetic reasons, he installed a billet air cleaner, which houses a K&N filter. To help expel the spent gases from the engine and give it a more noticeable voice, the stock exhaust system complete with headers was replaced with Gibson stainless steel headers and a 3-inch Flowmaster exhaust system. To add more glamour to the engine bay, billet valve covers, breathers, and cooling hoses were installed as replacements to the OE equipment. Finally, for extra durability and good looks, a full array of Earl's steel braided hoses and custom colored Taylor ignition wires were installed. The factory four-speed automatic transmission was left stock.
With the engine bay completed, it was only a matter of time before the exterior received its facelift. Bob's Body Shop of Greenwood, Indiana, was responsible for applying the combination Victory Red and Gunmetal Gray paintjob to the SUV along with completing the bodywork on George's pride and joy. Bob's crew filled in more than 60 holes and cutouts in the front and rear bumpers of the truck to make them ultra smooth. Following the body treatment, the front bumper's foglights were frenched in. Next up, the factory steel hood was replaced with a custom-made Cervin's fiberglass hood, bolstering the truck's intimidating looks. The '98 Styleside mirrors along with the door handles and the front grille were all color-matched to blend seamlessly with the rest of the bodywork. Lund headlight covers were also treated to a coat of paint. Completing the exterior, George decided to have the entire suspension kit, including the front skidplate and the differential cover powdercoated.
Between the red ultra-soft seating and symphony-quality Alpine sound system complete with dual four-channel amplifiers and 15-inch Kicker subwoofers, all installed by Audio Electronics of Indianapolis, it must be an experience driving own the road to work everyday.
