  • Tim Howard's "Dazed and Confused" Chevy S-10 stole the show. He won the Renegade Class drag race as well as the Renegade Class obstacle course. With dual rate coilovers at every corner it was easy to see why he made short work of the obstacle course.

  • The locals called this ride "Quadzilla." We hear the owner races this Suzuki ATV loaded with a Suzuki street bike engine in it at various dirt drags around the state. He usually takes home top honors, as well. During a break, he went up against some other fans and finished off most of them while on two wheels.

  • This had to be one of the best races: No. 28 Terry Conrad and his white Ford versus No. 19 Pat Leeper and his red Ford. Pat ended up with the high-flying win over the very last jump. Check out the cow pusher on the front of Terry's truck.

  • Dick Woomer and his black Chevy just edged out Waco Williams and his blue No. 69 Ford in a qualifying run. Dick would end up taking up second place in the Limited Modified Class.

  • Welcome to The Snack Shack. Hotdogs, soda pop and water ready and waiting. No Grey Poupon, and they don't take American Express.

  • Also racing No. 69 was Jim Holt, who not only won the Stock Class title but was the epitome of what this event was all about: fun. Busted-up fullsize truck, crashed-out suspension, spray-painted smiley face on a yard fence windshield, amazing one-liners written all over the body and four different color wheels. You can't help but smile and have a good time with trucks like this around.

  • We saw all sorts of big nasty trucks, then came Sheddy Graham's Stock-Class Jeep Cherokee. Sheddy beat the snot out of his Jeep to win second place. He was leading the final lap and his Jeep just gave up. I guess the stock engine and suspension didn't like the 10-foot high jumps he punished it with all day. Sure was entertaining!

  • Want to setup your truck to run in the mud? Take a close look. Covering vital engine parts is crucial. Running the air intake into the cabin inhibits mud from getting inside the engine.

  • It was a shame that No. 8 Ron Mertz couldn't take on Tim Howard for the first place title in Renegade Obstacle Class. Ron and Tim raced head to head in a qualifying run that was action packed from start to finish. These were the two fastest trucks out there and it would have made a great finale. Ron took second and the pair ended up on the cover of the magazine.

  • Brian Stucke of Poor Boy Racing Team is one of the men behind the Borrowing Freedom Raceway. He is usually the man to beat around the obstacle course but today just wasn't his day. He had some ignition and transmission problems that would keep him pulling up short in both events. Better luck next time, Brian. We're sure you'll beat them all next time out.

  • "If I go over there and jump the crap out of my Rhino will you put me in the magazine?" Mike Kelly asked. Here you go, Mike. Thanks for providing us a great shot for the magazine and also putting on a show for the fans; they loved it.

  • Don Weakland's truck may be small but his exhaust pipes are stacked! Don ran home with a third place trophy in the Renegade Class drag race. The body of his truck was covered in shout-outs to a welding shop, a butcher shop, blood sweat and beers, mom, and even Kermit the Frog.

  • All of the proceeds from the fans and entry fees goes back into the racing. That's for creating the tracks, buying supplies, holding raffles, and handing out trophies at the end of the day. This is true good ol' boy braggin' rights racing.
