Off Road Evolution put on...
Off Road Evolution put on a successful JK event at Area BFE this year. There were vendors, trailrides, and plenty of spectacles to see.
Whether you're a crawler, a go-fast guy, or just a general off-road lover such as ourselves, Moab, Utah, has got to be one of the greatest places on Earth to visit. It has everything from gnarly rock trails that would stick even the most badass buggy, to sand dunes and go-fast desert roads just outside of town. You can hit a famous slickrock trail like Hell's Revenge or something earlier in the day, and head out to do some high-speed blasting in the afternoon. On top of that, Moab (at least in March and April during Easter Jeep Safari) has some of the best weather for off-roading. It can be 85 degrees one day and actually be snowing a little fluff onto the trails the next. We've been in scorching sand dunes and a few feet of snow in the same day before.
This year, Moab was definitely emptier than the local businesses would have liked to have seen. The economy obviously affected everyone, and a lot of off-roaders just couldn't find the cash or time to make it out this year. But selfishly, this almost made it all the better for anyone who was there. It's not that we don't all love seeing a ton of people come out to enjoy themselves, but less people means less back up on the trails, and more availability of hotel rooms for those last-minute vacationers that drove to Moab on a last-minute whim
Will the economy be back in full swing and Moab completely packed again next year? Only time will tell, but we suggest you make your reservations now just in case. This is one week that you should never miss out on!

 This cool Defender 110 is...  This cool Defender 110 is actually a 1979 model year, but the owner bolted on some of the new Rover accessories to update the look. We were fooled into thinking it was a brand new one, as a matter of fact. Diesel Defenders were never sold in the U.S., but this owner imported his own Rover diesel and made himself a genuine diesel Rover with late-model Defender axles. |  We ran into an old friend,...  We ran into an old friend, George Breakall, in his exoskeleton Toyota at Potato Salad Hill. We first met George at Potato Salad a few years back when he was crawling up the super-steep sides of the climb that no one else would try. He did it at about half a mile per hour, but never even slipped a tire. We'd like to hand it all to his well-built Toyota, but we know there was a fair amount of skill and experience involved in those flawless climbs as well. |  |

 There are some really cool...  There are some really cool old mining facilities to go visit around Moab. The next time you get out to Moab, we suggest taking a day to head outside of town and do some exploring in some old mine shafts. Just be careful not to fall in any of them. |  We're not sure why the last...  We're not sure why the last owner of Shane's Bronco decided to add door hinges to the top of the Bronco, but having a door up there is certainly not going to help anything, Shane. Maybe the previous owner ate paint chips as a child.... |  It's always sad to see when...  It's always sad to see when people just dump trash, and sometimes it can be a deadly hazard to your off-road vehicle. While in the sand dunes, we almost couldn't believe that we ran across this giant mound of rusty nails just waiting to snag someone. |
