Looney and his V6-powered Ranger set blistering-fast lap times on par with the V8-powered Class 1 buggies. Unfortunately, his torque convertor called it quits with two laps left to go. For good reason: Steve fields a superbly built truck and drives skillfully and aggressively. Herrera had to stop briefly when a battery cable came loose and his electrical system stopped charging. Danny Guernsey (blue hat) and several other crew members got the F-100 underway again via a jump start and a reconnected battery cable.
